About

Why this simulator exists, who made it, where its figures come from and how to report an error.

What it is for

The simulator helps you decide whether to keep your car or switch to electric, counting manufacturing (battery included) and use, for your country and your mileage. It is an educational tool: it gives orders of magnitude, with an uncertainty of about ±20%, and it may conclude that keeping your car is better.

Who made it

Guillaume Gustin (Pwablo, pwablo.be), an independent software engineer based in Brussels, designed and built this simulator. Its purpose is educational: to give an honest answer for your situation, including when the best option is to keep your car. The simulator receives no funding from carmakers or energy suppliers, shows no ads and collects no personal data.

Where the figures come from

Method inspired by Carbone 4; data from ADEME, ICCT, Ember, Electricity Maps. Every assumption is numbered and sourced in the Method; the Common questions give figured answers for Belgium. Version 7.5, October 2026.

Sobriety

The simulator is ecodesigned to weigh as little as possible on your device and on the network: each page loads in a single request and scores EcoIndex A. Measurements and limits on the Ecodesign page.
